Description:

The development and therapy of myeloproliferative neoplasms are the focus of the Zhan lab (MPNs). Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell (HSPC) growth and overproduction of adult blood cells are hallmarks of MPNs, which are clonal stem cell diseases. Although the acquired mutation JAK2V617F plays a key role in these illnesses, the precise molecular pathways underlying MPN HSPC development remain unknown, limiting the efficacy of existing treatments. Our group investigates how hematopoietic microenvironment cells (e.g. endothelial cells, megakaryocytes) contribute to neoplastic stem cell expansion in MPNs using molecular and genetic approaches in both MPN patient samples and transgenic animal models. Our research's ultimate goal is to decipher the fundamental principles of stem cell biology in order to produce more effective therapeutics for MPN patients.

The role of the Postdoctoral Associate is to support basic science and preclinical research. A strong work ethic, originality, and passion, as well as outstanding writing and verbal communication abilities, are required of the Postdoctoral Associate. The chosen candidate will be in charge of the following:

Prepare and test specimens, as well as plan experiments and technical needs.

Prepare publications and grants, as well as analyse data and present the results at various scientific events.

Maintains laboratory supplies, equipment, and facilities. Execute the study plan's administrative parts, such as preparing research-related paperwork.

Other duties as assigned.

The SUNY Research Foundation is a non-profit educational organisation.
