1. Postdoctoral Associate
Dr. Sudha Shenoy’s laboratory is seeking a recent PhD graduate interested in the study of signaling and trafficking of seven-transmembrane/G-protein-coupled receptors (7TMR/GPCRs). 7TMRs/GPCRs are the largest and most diverse class of signaling receptors in the mammalian genome and the target of nearly half the drugs currently in use. We are interested in elucidating the roles of deubiquitinases in the regulation of GPCR and beta-arrestin signaling and trafficking mechanisms using both in vitro and in vivo model systems. A candidate who is highly motivated and shares a vision of excellence and commitment to research with a recent PhD in Pharmacology, Cell Biology or related discipline is preferred. Prior experience with mouse models is also preferred.
- PhD in a relevant field (pharmacology, cell biology or related discipline).
- Demonstrated expertise in molecular, cellular biochemical techniques; experience with mammalian cell culture, microscopy, immunoassays, molecular biology, animal models.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to work well with others.
- Self-motivated and have a strong work ethic.
- Demonstration of past research productivity (publications)
Interested candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names/contact information of three references to Dr. Shenoy (skshenoy@dm.duke.edu)
2. Postdoctoral Associate, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
Dynamic, translationally oriented lab group seeking motivated postdoctoral fellow to drive new Federally funded project addressing molecular mediators of red blood cell (native and transfused) responses to sepsis. The successful applicant will use innovative approaches, mouse models, and clinical specimens to investigate functional roles of vasoregulatory signaling, along with testing of novel therapeutics.
PhD or equivalent
Email CV to Tim McMahon, MD PhD, tim.mcmahon@duke.edu
3. Postdoctoral Associate in Experimental Stroke Research
A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center. The on-going projects in the lab use murine models of ischemic stroke and cardiac arrest. We apply a wide spectrum of approaches, including molecular and immunologic methods, functional imaging, genetically modified mouse models, and behavioral tests. The main research project for this position is to understand the role of neuronal activity in functional recovery after ischemic stroke using a chemogenetic approach.
Self-motivated individuals – who recently obtained a PhD or MD degree – are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidates should be interested in using rodent disease models to study mechanisms and develop potential therapeutics, and have a background in molecular biology and neuroscience. Prior experience in mouse behavioral testing and stroke models (eg, MCAO) is highly desirable. The applicants must be creative and capable of working independently as well as part of a team, and will be expected to work on several projects in parallel, develop novel ideas in line with the lab projects, analyze data, write manuscripts, and also assist in data collection for manuscripts and grant applications.
Interested candidates should send cover letter, CV, and contact information of 2 references to Dr. Wei Yang (wei.yang@duke.edu).
4. Postdoctoral Associate, Blood Cancer Research
A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Ken H. Young in the Department of Pathology at Duke University Medical Center and Duke Cancer Institute. The Young lab focuses on clinical and pathologic translational studies in lymphoma and myeloma and has assessed a number of genetic and epigenetic biomarkers for prognostic and therapeutic importance in blood cancer (examples include PMID 34980601, 30745366, 33148342, 31640780, 31127191, 27760757, 23449635, 23982177, 22955915, etc). The current position is to investigate treatment resistance mechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches in lymphoma using molecular and proteomic technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with strong background in cellular, molecular and/or immunology for this position. Future promotion is available for those excellent and dedicative individuals.
Qualifications:
- PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree in cancer biology, cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmaceutical sciences, immunology, or related fields.
- Experience and expertise in cell culture, molecular techniques, and data analysis.
- A good record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Good time management skills for high productivity. Ability to design and perform functional studies will be plus.
To submit, please send a cover letter describing your research experience and interests, a CV, and three references by email to Dr. Ken H. Young at ken.young@duke.edu and Dr. Xu-Monette at zijun.xumonette@duke.edu.
