Job description: This postdoc project focuses on the quantification of climate change impact on groundwater storage age in high Alpine catchments based on a combined experimental modeling approach (the re-tained model is WaSiM). The work aims at answering the question how the role of groundwater storage age for high Alpine water resources will evolve under ongoing climate change, based on detailed analyzes of the three selected case studies. This will be achieved by further developing existing hydrological modeling approaches with the main focus of improving the representation of surface water - ground water exchanges in high alpine environments. Detailed field data will be used to calibrate this model and achieve the best possible representation of the studied system.

A fundamental transition is required from fossil-based polymers to renewable resources and alter the concept of one-time use to continuously up-cycle, down-cycle or recycle polymeric materials. Most of the plastics that are recycled currently go through mechanical and thermal processing to re-make other plastic products, eg, thermoplastics such as PE, PP, and PET. Thermosetting plastics and resins cannot be easily recycled chemically or mechanically. The recycling scheme for those structures is always challenging having negative economic and environmental impacts. read more

We are looking for a Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) “Biocatalysis with oxygen (Boxy)” The research project and environment: This project deals with the investigation and engineering of NADH oxidases involved in enzymatic cascades for the production of fuels and other valuable chemicals from renewable raw materials. The project is realized together with our partners from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). During your PhD you will have the opportunity to do a three-months research stay at the DTU. Your position is funded by the International Graduate School of Science and Engineering (IGSSE). During your PhD you will be part of IGSSE and you will have the opportunity to be part of an international and interdisciplinary qualification program designed by IGSSE.
