The Malany Group at the College of Pharmacy, University of Florida is seeking a self-motivated postdoctoral scholar in synthetic/medicinal chemistry and funded through NIH sponsored grants. The position focuses on methodology/route development, synthesis, purification, and characterization of small organic molecules in Hit-to-Lead and Lead optimization projects. The individual will be co-mentored and conduct research under supervision of Dr. Mahesh Peddibhotla and Dr. Malany and will collaborate closely with biologists for the biochemical and pharmacological evaluation. In addition, there may be opportunity to do original research developing novel synthetic methodology towards biologically relevant molecules. There may be opportunities to work on biochemical and cell-based assay development and screening.
This position responsibilities will also include routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, managing compound library and chemical inventory, ordering lab supplies, as well as maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The candidate should be well-versed with modern organic synthetic reactions and mechanisms, be able to conduct diverse array of chemical reaction with air-sensitive intermediates under established laboratory safety procedures. The candidate should be able to interpret 1D & 2D NMR spectra and LCMS data. Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular-biology techniques, and assay platforms to support medicinal chemistry/SAR a plus. Hands-on experience on the use of NMR, LC-MS, and preparative-HPLC is preferred. Good organizational skills to adapt to fluctuating workloads while maintaining appropriate attention to detail. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

The Research Coordinator described herein will manage (under supervision of faculty members) the UF Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, a large-scale national collaborative research project that follows children, aged 9 and 10 at outset, into young adulthood. The coordinator will oversee all aspects of the day to day study activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigators. The coordinator will oversee and assist with the conduct of follow-up in-person visits and telephone interviews with participants, coordinate project meetings, and interface with the consortium coordinating core to manage IRB submissions, amendments and reporting.
The coordinator also oversees and assists in the retention of participants, scheduling, follow-up contact, and coordination of subject payments. As needed, she/he will also coordinate travel and lodging for participants and their families. The coordinator will be required to attend an annual out-of-state training on the research protocol, train other study staff and trainees on the protocol, and participate in consortium wide research assistant conference calls and remote training. As the team leader, the coordinator is also responsible for facilitating a respectful and professional research environment.
