1. Postdoctoral Research in Astrophysical Sciences

The Department of Astrophysical Sciences, Princeton University, anticipates offering a number of postdoctoral or more senior research positions in theory, observation and instrumentation, including (but not limited to): the Lyman Spitzer, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellowship; the Henry Norris Russell Postdoctoral Fellowship; the Joint Carnegie Observatories and Princeton University Postdoctoral Fellowship; and positions in research related to: astrophysical plasma theory and simulation, cosmology, machine learning, plasma astrophysics, statistical astronomy, and theoretical astrophysics. Applicants may work with the Department's distinguished faculty and research staff.

There are also strong research groups with interests in astrophysics at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab and in the Physics, Geosciences, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Departments, and at the nearby Institute for Advanced Study. Appointments are for one year, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance and continued funding, with the expectation of up to three years.

2. Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton Quantum Initiative

The Princeton Quantum Initiative seeks outstanding applicants for our postdoctoral fellowship program. These highly competitive positions will support research in quantum science and engineering across several departments throughout the university, including physics, electrical engineering, computer science, chemistry, and mechanical engineering. Research areas include foundational quantum science, quantum materials, devices for quantum technologies, and quantum computer science. Appointments will be for one year, renewable up to three years, depending on performance, with a highly competitive salary.

3. Postdoctoral Research Associate - International Economics

The International Economics Section of the Department of Economics will have an opening for one or more Postdoctoral Research Associates or more senior researchers, anticipated to start September 2023. Primary criteria are the quality of the applicant's research and interest/experience in international economics. The position provides an outstanding opportunity for independent research as well as opportunities for collaboration with Princeton faculty and graduate students.


Postdoctoral Research Associates may participate in the teaching program if mutually agreed, with sufficient course enrollments, and with the approval of the Dean of the Faculty. Postdoctoral Research Associates are expected to participate actively in the intellectual activities of Princeton University. The program is open to all regardless of citizenship. The term of appointment is typically for one academic year (9 months), though a longer term (up to twelve months) may be possible. 4. Postdoctoral Research Associate - Intersection of Ecology and Land Surface Modeling

The High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton University, in collaboration with UCLA and UCSB is seeking a Postdoctoral fellow or more senior researcher with a passion for studying the natural world, motivated to take on the challenge of improving our understanding of linkages between plant traits and ecosystem processes under changing environmental conditions. The position is available under the supervision of Dr. Matteo Detto and funded by an NSF grant (Award 2017804) for a duration of two years. 


This project aims to provide a mechanistic understanding of the role of traits, including hydraulic traits, in determining fluxes for several forested NEON and FluxNet sites. The post-doc will join a highly collaborative research project under the supervision of Dr. Matteo Detto and be responsible for working with and developing an Earth System Model. Additional available resources include rich trait and flux datasets collected by the project field team at NEON sites across the continental US. A Ph.D. in ecology, earth sciences, applied math, or the physical, biological, or chemical sciences is required. Rigorous training in physiological ecology is preferred along with very strong dynamical, modeling, and quantitative skills. 


Postdoctoral appointments are initially for one year with the renewal for subsequent years based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. 5. Lecturer and Postdoctoral Fellow in the Society of Fellows

The Princeton Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts, an interdisciplinary group of scholars in the humanities and social sciences, invites applications for the 2024-27 fellowship competition. Four fellowships are to be awarded: Two or three Open Fellowships in any discipline represented in the Society One Fellowship in Humanistic Studies One Fellowship in Race and Ethnicity Studies 


Applicants may be considered for more than one fellowship pertinent to their research and teaching. Please see the Society's website (sf.princeton.edu) for fellowship details, eligibility, disciplines, and application. Appointed in the Council of the Humanities and academic departments, postdoctoral fellows pursue their research, attend weekly seminars, and teach half-time as Lecturers for a term of three years. In each of the first two years, fellows teach one course per semester; in their third year, they teach only one course in either semester. Fellows must reside in or near Princeton during the academic year. Applicants holding the Ph.D. at the time of application must have received the degree after January 1, 2022. 


Applicants not yet holding the Ph.D. must have completed a substantial portion of the dissertation - at least half - at the time of application. Successful candidates must fulfill all requirements for the Ph.D., including filing of the dissertation, by June 15, 2024. Candidates for/recipients of doctoral degrees in Education, Jurisprudence, and from Princeton University are not eligible. Applicants may apply only once to the Princeton Society of Fellows. Selection is based on exceptional scholarly achievement and evidence of unusual promise, range and quality of teaching experience, and potential contributions to an interdisciplinary community.
