1. Postdoctoral Associate- Biochemistry



Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): 
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology or another relevant field. Experience in designing and conducting research in biochemistry and redox biology. 

Preferred Qualifications:  
Expertise in fundamental research methods of redox biology or cellular and molecular biology. Research experience focused on transgenic mouse colony management, breeding, genotyping. Hematopoietic cell flow cytometry characterization, UV-.  Molecular biology approaches including western blot, rtPCR and DNA, RNA, and proteins extraction, transfection. Cell and tissue culture, cytotoxicity assay, synergy assay. Proficiency in data and project management. Experience with grant writing and management.  

Brief Description of Duties:  
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks a full-time (100%) Postdoctoral Associate who will contribute to research projects (PI: Dr. Wadie Bahou) and help advance the PI’s research-based efforts.  The applicant will have the opportunity to split time with an early biotechnology startup and to transition into the biosciences industry.

This Postdoctoral Associate position involves design of experiments, execution of experiments, data analysis, record keeping, co-designing new studies, preparing IACUC protocols, etc. Reporting directly to Dr. Wadie Bahou and working collaboratively with multiple other faculty and staff team members across the disciplines of biotechnology and the Cancer Center.  The Postdoctoral Associate will have excellent writing and presentation skills in English.  Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team is essential.  The successful incumbent will be required to communicate research results to both expert and non-expert audiences.  Other duties as assigned, which may include attending and presenting work at scientific conferences, preparing publications, and collaborating on grant proposals.

Within predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research in the field of redox biology relevant to hematopoiesis and cancer biology, including conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data in collaboration with faculty and staff from multiple health-related disciplines.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. Assist in grant writing and co-designing new studies.

Brief Description of Duties: 
Stony Brook University’s Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the research laboratory of Dr. Wali Karzai.

The successful candidate will participate in a collaborative research project to determine the structure and mechanism of ATP-dependent proteases that regulate protein quality control in bacteria and eukaryotes. 3. Postdoctoral Associate

Brief Description of Duties: 
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The incumbent will conduct research within the predetermined research scope and methodology, and conduct research in the field of power engineering.   

The postdoc is responsible for delivering a programmable platform that integrates continuous-depth deep neural networks, reachability analysis, formal control, and cybersecurity technologies to enable scalable, self-protecting, autonomic, and ultra-resilient microgrids and networked microgrids capable of coordinating ultra-scale distributed energy systems and cultivating America’s smart communities and cities.
       

Develop and demonstrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled, provably resilient networked microgrids (AI-grid); 
Prototype quantum computing and quantum networking technologies for resilient power systems;
Embed provable and deployable security and privacy functionalities in a smart programmable microgrid platform;
Verify the developed algorithms and prototypes on large microgrids, Naval systems, and utility systems;
Assist grant proposal writing in areas such as networked microgrids, quantum engineering, formal methods, cyber-physical resilience, and data-driven engineering, work collaboratively with industry/government; mentor graduate students in strategic areas.           
Collect, analyze and maintain data, including literature search and utilizing specialized skills in a related field to analyze the collected data;
Participate in manuscript writing for publication in top journals; collaborate with the PI on a new monograph, which includes lab/testbed maintenance, organizing and attending meetings, presenting results in major IEEE conferences and workshops.

6. Postdoctoral Associate - Thermal Spray

Preferred Qualifications:  
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. Experience in Thermal Spray Materials/Processes/Characterization/Modeling is preferred. Preferred Qualifications:  
PhD or Masters Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics in hand by October 1, 2022. Strong background and experience in synthesis, catalysis, and structural characterization with proven expertise in diffraction, electron microscopy, and spectroscopy techniques. Complementary expertise in the use and application of synchrotron-based structural characterization techniques and computation/theory would be highly preferred. 

The ability to set up, to operate, to process, and to properly interpret the results of novel instrumentation and to collaborate effectively with other groups is expected. Previous experience working at a synchrotron facility would be positively viewed. Effective proficiency in and knowledge of data processing programs, computational chemistry algorithms, and molecular structure analyses would be an asset. Brief Description of Duties:  
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Chemistry.

This current project will focus on the synthesis, structural characterization, and catalysis studies of novel nanostructured materials, and will involve experimental studies conducted not only at Stony Brook University but also at Brookhaven National Laboratory, as needed.

Ammonia (NH3), traditionally synthesized using the 20th century Haber-Bosch process, is primarily used to create not only fertilizer for food production but also explosives, pharmaceuticals, refrigerants, and cleaning products. The focus of this project involves the directed development of methods to devise a 21st century replacement for generating ammonia under preferably ambient conditions, implying the possibility for low energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions, through electrocatalysis. Hence, the successful candidate will possess relevant expertise not only in advanced synthesis techniques but also in the structural characterization methods, including a variety of complementary diffraction, microscopy, and spectroscopic techniques, relevant for the synthesis and application of novel inorganic nanoscale materials. It would also be highly desirable for the candidate to have had experience in conducting electrocatalysis measurements. Moreover, the candidate should have the ability to set up, to operate, and to learn novel instrumentation techniques and to effectively collaborate with other team members of diverse intellectual backgrounds. Specifically, expertise with synchrotron measurements would be especially useful. Finally, the candidate should be familiar with machine learning and multi-computational methods.
