Dr. Shyh-Dar Li's group at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Vancouver, BC, Canada) has one full-time postdoctoral position available. Priority will be given to applicants who can start immediately.
The Li lab's research focuses on using chemical techniques to create novel medication delivery platforms. such as prodrugs and lipid- or polymer-based nanoparticles to enhance drug targeting. Dr. Li is the head of the Nanomedicine and Chemical Biology Research Theme as well as the Training Program at the Faculty. He is a research leader at the Nanomedicine Innovation Network (NMIN), a National Centre of Excellence focused on clinical translation and commercialization of nanomedicines that is co-funded by the Government of Canada and industry. The Li lab offers a diverse range of training opportunities, including chemistry, pharmaceutics, drug formulation, nanoparticle engineering, drug development, animal studies, and entrepreneurship. Li lab trainees compete for highly skilled professions, such as scientists in breakthrough biotech businesses and tenure-track university positions.
Qualifications:
Have a PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
Have published research paper in peer-reviewed journal as the first author.
Have excellent skills in pharmaceutical formulation, protein engineering or synthetic chemistry.
Have hand on experience with bioanalytical techniques, such as FACS and HPLC.
Have excellent command on communication skills.
Interested in drug delivery research and self-motivated.
Preference will be given to those who have experience in Biological and molecular assays, gene therapy and in vivo studies.
Responsibilities:
Take charge of a significant laboratory project.
Create new molecules by synthesizing or engineering them (lipids, peptides, proteins, monoclonal antibodies or conjugates of the above).
In-vitro and in vivo characterizations of Developed drug formulations
Maintenance of the lab and Lead organization.
Have the capability to train junior members .
Assist in grant writing and publish research results.
Conferences presentation and data presentation at lab meetings.

Pay will be commensurate with expertise and will be subject to UBC postdoctoral stipend standards. The deal will be for one year, with the possibility of subsequent extensions. For more information., please email shyh-dar.li@ubc.ca.
