Minimum Qualification The applicant should have a PhD in a biomedical discipline with extensive knowledge and research experience in more than one of the following research areas: cancer immunology, systems immunology, or cancer biology. Prior postdoctoral experience and a good record of publications are desirable.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience The position is for an enthusiastic young scientist interested in cancer immunology, who is self-motivated, organized, and able to work and manage research projects independently as well as in a team. Primary responsibilities include the design and performance of experiments using in vitro and in vivo cancer models. Prior experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, immunological assays and rodent cancer models is required. Preference will be given to those with a solid experience in bioinformatics and transcriptomic/proteomic analysis and who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Title Research Assistant in Food Science / Food Waste and By-Product Valorization

Job Description The successful candidate will work as Research Assistant in the ASPIRE Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders of the public and private food and agricultural sector. It strives to generate knowledge and technological innovation in support of food security in the UAE and other arid environments of the world. As part of one of its research themes, the institute will develop innovative, multi-level valorization strategies for organic waste materials, such as food and plant waste. In support of this activity, we are seeking to hire a motivated and experienced researcher. The focus of the research is in area of agri-food industrial waste, biomass, and by-product utilization and valorization into wide range of valuable products or applications. Utilization of novel, green and environmentally friendly technologies for such valorization is to be explored. This is a position for a Post-Doctoral fellow, with very high expectations regarding to his/her ability to lead the research activities, supervise graduate students, and lead the preparation of manuscripts for publication in highly ranking scientific journals. The position is for nine months with the possibility of extension on an annual basis.

Minimum Qualification The candidate is expected to have a PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field, from a reputable University. Previous post-doctoral employment will be an asset. Indicatively, evidence of experience and impact of previous research can be provided through publication metrics. The Post-Doc must have experience in Agri-food waste utilization, novel and green extraction technologies for recovery of range of biomolecules from agri-food wastes, smart/active packaging and functional foods and should come up with “out of box novel approaches“ for food waste and by-product valorization. Significant input in the day-to-day supervision and guidance of 2-3 PhD students working on the similar theme is expected.

Preferred Qualification Previous experience addressing the theme of this research project will be highly preferred. Evidence of independent thinking and leading the research project will be highly preferred. The Post-Doc should be able to evidence experience in working in a multi-cultural, international setting. The Post-Doc should be well versed in interdisciplinary projects, therefore evidenced experience of interaction with a range of stakeholders (academia, government entities, research organizations, primary producers, relevant industry as well as the public) is considered a strong asset.

Job Description The successful candidate will work as Post-Doc in the Abu Dhabi International Virtual Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders of the public and private food and agricultural sector. The virtual research institute strives to generate knowledge and technological innovation in support of food security in the UAE and other arid environments of the world. As part of one of its research themes, the institute is aiming to investigate the interaction between crops and plant growth promoting endophytes native to arid environments. 

The candidate will be involved in this research by establishing in vitro collection of cultivable endophytic microorganisms from roots of natural plant communities in the UAE. He/she will screen the isolates for their ability to confer tolerance to heat, salinity or drought in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. In addition, microbial isolates will be screened for their ability to solubilize rockphosphate. The most promising strains will be further evaluated for their impact on performance of selected greenhouse crop species cultivated in organic growth substrates identified by other teams from the VRI project. The candidate will monitor genome-wide changes in plant gene transcription and deploy reverse genetic tests on plant mutants to unravel some physiological processes and signal transduction pathways underlying microbially induced heat or drought tolerance in plants. The position is for nine months with the option of extension on an annual basis.

Minimum Qualification PhD in Plant Science, Plant Molecular Biology, Genomics and Biosciences. Biotechnology or a related scientific discipline.

Preferred Qualification Highly motivated candidates with a strong academic track record, and relevant experience in plant Genomics and molecular biology and microbiology are especially encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will be expected to conduct laboratory work related to Genomics, Transcriptomics, Functional Genomics of candidate genes related to abiotic stress tolerance, prepare manuscripts for publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, assist in supervising/monitoring undergraduate and graduate students.

We expect excellent oral and written communication skills in English, as well as the ability to maintain professional networks and collaborate efficiently in an international research environment. The candidate is expected to conduct fieldwork (soil and root collection) from an arid environment; process samples for biochemical and molecular lab work; bioinformatic and statistical analyses of big genomics datasets (both microbial and plant), timely manuscripts publication, and assist in supervising/ mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. This position is for one year with the possibility of extension on an annual basis.

Job Description One position is available for full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistants in the project: “Impact of Stochastic Noise on COVID-19 Dynamics in the UAE: Analysis, control, and treatment” The duties of the RA are to help in providing a set of suitable mathematical models of ODEs and DDEs to describe the interactions of the immune system with primary Corona Virus (CoV) infection in an individual and among groups. In this project, we propose some new compartmental stochastic epidemic models with time delays to describe the transmission of COVID-19 in the UAE. The models incorporate environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, international travel, and lack of social awareness as possible causes for the spread of COVID-19. Salaries and benefits will be granted according to the UAE University regulations.

Minimum Qualification MSc in Mathematics
