Description
We are currently accepting applications from motivated, creative, and well-organized individuals to join a multidisciplinary research training laboratory (http://uregina.ca/~babu200m/) as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Regina, Research and Innovation Centre to study the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction networks involved in human diseases. The successful candidate will join a productive team whose research is well recognized in the field of large-scale systems research.
Babu’s group has an opening for 3 immediate Post-doctoral Fellow positions, two in bioinformatics and one in neuroscience. Ideal bioinformatics candidates should hold a PhD degree in computational biology, with reliable experience in deep learning, pearl, Java and preferably other languages. They should also have an expertise in the R package and prior knowledge in analyzing large-scale data sets, such as single cell sequencing, proteomics, and genomics.
Qualification
The neuroscience fellow should hold a PhD degree, with proven skills in human genetics, biomedical science, biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or mammalian cell biology. We are particularly interested in candidates with sufficient background experience in generating CRISPR knockouts/ knockdowns, CRISPR genetic screening, mammalian cell culture, protein purifications, biochemical and functional characterization of human proteins underlying human diseases. Proficiency in molecular/cell biology, and prior experience in mammalian research or membrane biology is highly desirable.
The appointed individuals will have: a strong publication record, good verbal and written skills, and the ability to conduct independent research and work efficiently in a dynamic research environment. Position Summary
CIPSRT invites applicants for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work on several projects related to Public Safety Personnel Mental Health and Well-being. The fellowship is valued at $55,000 per annum, with an initial 18 month appointment.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. R. Nicholas Carleton (University of Regina). The position is ideal for an individual wanting to advance their research knowledge and experience, particularly in the area of public safety personnel (www.cipsrt-icrtsp.ca) and/or mental health research.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will gain experience with, and will spend the most time on: systematic reviews, quantitative data analyses, stakeholder engagement, collaborating on grant applications and dissemination of results (e.g., co-authoring peer-reviewed manuscripts, community and conference presentations).
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work as a member of a team and will have some supervision and project management responsibilities. The successful candidate will be provided with access to the resources and office space, and will also have the opportunity to work with scholars engaged in a broad range of research related to PSP.
Position Requirements
PhD in one of the following areas: Psychology (clinical or experimental) or a related clinical or health research discipline (e.g., epidemiology, Community Health Sciences); Social Work; Sociology; or other social science.
Quantitative data collection and analytic skills are required and preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in Qualtrics (or similar), SPSS, STATA, and/or SAS.
Demonstrated success with peer-reviewed publications.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Experience conducting research (e.g., literature reviews, interviews, focus groups, surveys, research ethics, and quantitative data analysis, dissemination of results).
Record of research productivity (e.g., publications, reports, conference presentations).
Must be able to work independently and have leadership skills.
Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
Must have strong assessment and problem solving skills.
Must have basic computer skills; advanced computer skills an asset.
The position does not require relocation.
